Murphy Boxing Club
The Paul Murphy Boxing Club, of Doraville, Georgia,
has a profound conviction in success that parallels
that of Coach Bert Wells’. This and many other
values that are important to Coach Wells, like:
integrity and hard work are values that are also
associated with the Paul Murphy Boxing Club. Thus,
he considers the Club to be a sort of home base for
his training. The Club was founded in 1978 by the
late Paul Murphy and Asa Gordon. Many of the best
coaches in the boxing world train fighters at Paul
Murphy such as: Bernard Styles, Teddy “Lonnie”
Grice, Juan Castro Carlos, Miqui just to name a few.
Numerous world class, title holding fighters have
trained at the Paul Murphy Boxing Club such as:
Anyetei Laryea, Omri Lowther, Charmine Carrington,
Jose Hernandez, O’Neal Bell, as well as USA Amateur
fighters, such as: Roberto Ceron, Adrian Brown,
Joshua Stringer, Marcus Powell, David Johnson, .
Sugar Bert Boxing Academy and The Paul Murphy Boxing
Club strive to develop, discipline, character, and
excellence. Developing the youth of today into
champions of tomorrow is a priority. In the summer
of 2012 Sugar Bert Boxing Academy in conjunction
with the Paul Murphy Boxing Club will host a summer
program for local and visiting youth. The program
will focus on endurance and cardio training, as well
as strength and technique. A team of dieticians and
License Teachers and Trainers will be an essential
